An interesting game took place in Coamo where higher ranked Maratonistas (6-7) were upseton its own court by ninth ranked Gallitos (5-9) 89-66. The game without a history. Gallitos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Gallitos had a 35-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. Naturalized American forward Florentino Valencia (198-85, college: Toledo, agency: Paris Global Sports) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). American forward Shavlik Randolph (208-83, college: Duke) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Valencia is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American-Lebanese forward Matt Freije (207-81, college: Vanderbilt, agency: Priority Sports) answered with 16 points and the former international center Manuel Antonio Narvaez (211-81, college: S.Nazarene, agency: Paris Global Sports) added 6 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Maratonistas. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gallitos maintains ninth place with 5-9 record. Maratonistas lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with seven games lost. Gallitos' next round opponent will be league's leader Quebradillas on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Maratonistas will play against Atleticos (#8) in San German.
