Regular Season Round 12: Coamo - San German 75-87

There was a small surprise in Coamo where sixth ranked Atleticos (7-8) beat 6th ranked Maratonistas (6-8) 87-75 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 52-35 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Atleticos outrebounded Maratonistas 48-32 including 18 on the offensive glass. Maratonistas were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was forward Mike Harris (198-83, college: Rice) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 17 rebounds. Panamanian power forward Jaime Lloreda (201-80, college: LSU) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 16 rebounds. Four Atleticos players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Johwen Villegas (193-85, college: FIU) who recorded 17 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international center Manuel Antonio Narvaez (211-81, college: S.Nazarene, agency: Paris Global Sports) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Despite that victory Atleticos went down to seventh position due to points difference. Maratonistas lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth place with eight games lost. Atleticos will face higher ranked Capitanes (#5) in Arecibo in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Maratonistas will play at home against Indios in Mayaguez and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
