The guests were already 18 points ahead at halftime and as many as 21 after three quarters before a 35-22 last quarter charge of GTU cut the lead to 97-89 at the end of the game. TSU forced 25 GTU turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Center Richard Matiashvili (209-89) notched a double-double by scoring 28 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and forward Mikheil Panchulidze (192-83) supported him with 24 points and 5 rebounds. Even 24 points and 8 assists by guard Beqa Chikviladze (195-91) did not help to save the game for GTU. Forward Akaki Lomouri (198-91) added 21 points and 10 rebounds for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
