There was no surprise in Mayaguez where 10th ranked Indios (3-11) were defeated by seventh ranked Capitanes (7-7) 77-69 on Friday. The guests trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 8 points. Capitanes made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was the former international center Jeffrion Aubry (205-76, college: Cornell, agency: Paris Global Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds. American-Panamanian guard Danilo Pinnock (196-83, college: George Washington, agency: SportsTalent) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. Five Capitanes players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Carlos Rivera (187-83, college: Hofstra, agency: Paris Global Sports) who recorded 24 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Brandon Robinson (202-81, college: Auburn, agency: Paris Global Sports) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Capitanes moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Humacao and Santurce. Indios lost sixth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. Capitanes will face Atleticos (#7) in San German in the next round. Indios will play on the road against Maratonistas in Coamo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
