The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-15. But Akita Happinets won second period 22-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Niigata Albirex players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Akita Happinets were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American center George Leach (210-81, college: Indiana) had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and swingman Yuichi Ikeda (191-83) chipped in 17 points during the contest. Four Niigata Albirex players scored in double figures. American guard Sek Henry (193-87, college: Nebraska, agency: Impact Basketball) responded with 34 points (!!!) and Nigerian forward Ayodokun Akingbade (207-84, college: George Washington) scored 8 points and 18 rebounds. Akita Happinets' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help.
