We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when sixth ranked Atleticos (8-8) beat 5th ranked Capitanes (7-8) in Arecibo 85-80 on Monday. The guests trailed by 10 points after three quarters before their 32-17 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Atleticos shot 27 for 36 from the free-throw line, while Capitanes only scored nine points from the stripe. They outrebounded Capitanes 47-31 including a 34-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international guard Jesse Pellot-Rosa (193-84, college: VCU) nailed 25 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side and forward Mike Harris (198-83, college: Rice) accounted for 15 points and 13 rebounds. American-Panamanian guard Danilo Pinnock (196-83, college: George Washington, agency: SportsTalent) came up with 18 points and 8 rebounds and the former international swingman Antonio Latimer (204-78, college: Missouri So.) added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for Capitanes in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Capitanes' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Atleticos moved-up to fifth place. Loser Capitanes dropped to the sixth position with eight games lost. They share it with Humacao. Atleticos will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Capitanes will play against Maratonistas (#8) in Coamo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
