Regular Season Round 15: Arecibo - Humacao 82-88

Date: May 14, 2011
There was a small surprise in Arecibo where eighth ranked Caciques (8-9) defeated 6th ranked Capitanes (8-9) 88-82 on Saturday. Capitanes were trailing by 6 points at halftime but managed to get 8-point lead after three quarters before a 32-18 charge of Caciques, which allowed them to win the game. They made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American power forward Ivan Johnson (203-84, college: Cal.St.-San Bernar.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 14 rebounds. point guard Denis Clemente (185-86, college: Kansas St., agency: KMG Sports Management) helped adding 20 points. The best for the losing side was international guard Larry Ayuso (190-77, college: USC, agency: Global Sports Plaza) with 28 points and 5 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and American-Panamanian guard Danilo Pinnock (196-83, college: George Washington, agency: SportsTalent) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. Capitanes' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Caciques moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Arecibo. Caciques will meet higher ranked Atleticos (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Capitanes will play against the league's second-placed Quebradillas and hope to secure a win.
