Leader Vaqueros delivered the eleventh victory. This time they crushed 9th ranked Gallitos (6-12) 101-76 in Isabela. The game was mostly controlled by Vaqueros. Gallitos was better in second period 23-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 20-of-24 charity shots (83.3 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Vaqueros especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Gallitos were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The game was dominated by American players. It was a good game for forward Rick Rickert (211-83, college: Minnesota, agency: Court Side) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds. Forward Terrence Shannon (203-79, college: Elgin CC, agency: Paris Global Sports) contributed with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Forward Shavlik Randolph (208-83, college: Duke) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds and guard Lewis Clinch (191-87, college: Georgia Tech) added 20 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Gallitos. Five Vaqueros and four Gallitos players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Vaqueros maintains first place with 11-5 record. Gallitos at the other side keep the ninth position with 12 games lost. Vaqueros will play against Mets (#3) in Guaynabo in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Gallitos will play on the road against Caciques (#7) in Humacao and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
