The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Vaqueros (11-6) in Bayamon on Tuesday night. Hosts were defeated by Mets (12-7) 104-97. It was a key game for the top position in the league as both teams had the same 11-7 record before this meeting. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Mets made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. Strangely Vaqueros outrebounded Mets 45-30 including a 20-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of international swingman Angel Daniel Vassallo (198-86, college: Virginia Tech) who helped to win the game recording 30 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws). The former international swingman Angel Luis Figueroa (196-81, college: Dowling, agency: Paris Global Sports) contributed with 19 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American forward Terrence Shannon (203-79, college: Elgin CC, agency: Paris Global Sports) replied with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international guard Christian Dalmau (194-77, college: Daytona Beach CC, agency: Paris Global Sports) added 25 points (made all of his nine free throws !!!) in the effort for Vaqueros. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Mets keep a position of league leader. Vaqueros at the other side dropped to the second place with six games lost. Mets will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Vaqueros will play on the road against Caciques in Humacao and are hoping to win this game.
