Regular Season Round 35: Tepic - Hermosillo 93-100

Very expected game when 9th ranked Coras de Tepic (7-28) was defeated at home by third ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (24-11) 100-93. It looked good early as Coras de Tepic took an 9-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Rayos de Hermosillo took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 7 points. They dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Coras de Tepic's 50. They outrebounded Coras de Tepic 39-16 including a 26-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. Rayos de Hermosillo brought some defensive toughness making 11 blocks. Americans were the main players on the court. It was an exceptional evening for forward Terrance Thomas (198-80, college: Baylor) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Lorrenzo Wade (198-85, college: San Diego St.) accounted for 27 points and 4 assists for the winning side. Swingman Cleotis Brown (198-77, college: Illinois, agency: Dream Team Management) came up with 31 points and 8 assists and guard James Parker (188-81, college: Robert Morris) added 24 points respectively for Coras de Tepic in the defeat. Five Rayos de Hermosillo and four Coras de Tepic players scored in double figures. Rayos de Hermosillo have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 24-11 record having just two points less than leader Cananea. Coras de Tepic at the other side keeps the ninth position with 28 games lost. Rayos de Hermosillo will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Coras de Tepic will play again at home against Rayos de Hermosillo (#3) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
