Very important is a home loss of third ranked Quebradillas (11-7) against sixth ranked Capitanes (9-9) on Wednesday night. Host Quebradillas were defeated by Capitanes in Quebradillas 83-73. The guests trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 10 points. Capitanes dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Quebradillas' 32. The winners were led by American-Panamanian guard Danilo Pinnock (196-83, college: George Washington, agency: SportsTalent) who scored that evening 24 points and 8 rebounds and international guard Larry Ayuso (190-77, college: USC, agency: Global Sports Plaza) supported him with 23 points. Even 17 points and 8 rebounds by international center Peter John Ramos (222-85) did not help to save the game for Quebradillas. Australian forward Mark Worthington (202-83, college: Metro St.) added 18 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Capitanes maintains sixth position with 9-9 record. Loser Quebradillas keep the third place with seven games lost. Capitanes will meet at home Gallitos (#9) in the next round. Quebradillas will play against Indios (#10) in Mayaguez and hope to secure a win.
