Regular Season Round 17: Mayaguez - Quebradillas 79-89
Date: May 20, 2011
Very predictable result in Mayaguez where third ranked Quebradillas (12-7) defeated bottom-ranked Indios (6-13) 89-79 on Friday. The game without a history. Quebradillas led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. It was a great shooting night for Quebradillas especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was international center Peter John Ramos (222-85) who had a double-double by scoring 30 points and 11 rebounds. The former international guard Rick Apodaca (192-80, college: Hofstra, agency: Paris Global Sports) chipped in 14 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. The former international swingman Alejandro Carmona (194-83) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and American forward Brandon Robinson (202-81, college: Auburn, agency: Paris Global Sports) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Five Quebradillas and four Indios players scored in double figures. Indios' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Quebradillas keep a position of league leader, which they share with Guaynabo. Loser Indios stay at the bottom place with 13 games lost. Quebradillas will meet at home Capitanes (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Indios will play against Gallitos (#9) in Isabela and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
