The game was mostly controlled by Hamamatsu Phoenix. Niigata Albirex managed to win fourth quarter 25-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hamamatsu Phoenix looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Niigata Albirex helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Jeffrey Parmer (203-85, college: Florida Atlantic, agency: Top Notch Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import forward Ray Nixon (203-84, college: Wisconsin, agency: Top Notch Sports) contributed with 25 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Hamamatsu Phoenix's coach Kazuo Nakamura used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Trinidad and Tobago power forward Julius Ashby (205-82, college: Colorado) answered with 28 points and 9 rebounds and Senegalese forward Issa Konare (202-80, college: High Point, agency: Warren Sports International) added 10 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Niigata Albirex.
