Cananea toppled Tijuana in the opener. The game without a history. Mineros de Cananea led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Tijuana Zonkeys' 46 and made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Tijuana Zonkeys 39-28 including 27 on the defensive glass. The game was also dominated by American players. Guard Davin White (186-81, college: Cal.St. Northridge) fired a double-double by scoring 32 points, 12 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Forward Brandon Brown (201-85, college: Cal.St.-San Bernar.) chipped in 21 points and 7 rebounds. Brown is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Mineros de Cananea players scored in double figures. Mineros de Cananea's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Travis Gabbidon (201, college: UTSA) produced 39 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and power forward Cyrus Tate (203-85, college: Iowa, agency: Edge Sports) added 20 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side.
