Montepaschi Siena fired past Virtus Bologna to ease into semifinal stage. The game was mostly controlled by Montepaschi Siena. CS Bologna managed to win third quarter 21-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Montepaschi Siena dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to CS Bologna's 18 and made 22-of-24 free shots (91.7 percent) during the game. 25 personal fouls committed by CS Bologna helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a quality performance of Lithuanian guard Rimantas Kaukenas (193-77, college: Seton Hall) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 6 rebounds and American guard Malik Hairston (198-87, college: Oregon) who added 18 points during the contest. Four Montepaschi Siena players scored in double figures. At the losing side American swingman K.C. Rivers (196-87, college: Clemson, agency: Lanshire Group) responded with 16 points and 8 rebounds and Georgian forward Viktor Sanikidze (203-86) scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
