Montepaschi Siena surged ahead in the semifinal series versus Benetton Teviso. Siena celebrated a comfortable home win in the opener. The game was mostly controlled by Montepaschi Siena. Benetton Treviso was better in fourth quarter 15-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Montepaschi Siena made 20-of-23 charity shots (87.0 percent) during the game. American guard Malik Hairston (198-87, college: Oregon) nailed 16 points for the winning side and Lithuanian center Ksistof Lavrinovic (210-79) accounted for 12 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws). Montepaschi Siena's coach Simone Pianigiani felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Swingman Alessandro Gentile (198-92) came up with 14 points and Serbian guard Stefan Markovic (194-88) added 6 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Benetton Treviso in the defeat.
