Regular Season Round 21: Quebradillas - San German 77-82
Date: June 3, 2011
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 4th placed Quebradillas (13-10) were defeated at home by fifth ranked Atleticos (13-9) 82-77 on Friday. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 40-33 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was forward Mike Harris (198-83, college: Rice) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds. International point guard Filiberto Rivera (190-82, college: UTEP) chipped in 22 points. Atleticos' coach Nelson Colon allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international swingman Joel Jones (196-81, college: Sacramento St.) who recorded 19 points and 9 rebounds and naturalized American power forward Angel Alamo (206-85) added 16 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Atleticos moved-up to fourth place. Loser Quebradillas dropped to the fifth position with ten games lost. Atleticos will have a break next round. Quebradillas will play on the road against Capitanes (#6) in Arecibo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
