The game between closely ranked teams ended with fourth ranked Capitanes' (15-11) home victory over 5th ranked Atleticos (14-10) 73-65 on Tuesday. Atleticos were trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 25-14 charge of Capitanes, which allowed them to win the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Capitanes made 9 blocks. It was a great evening for international guard Larry Ayuso (190-77, college: USC, agency: Global Sports Plaza) who led his team to a victory scoring 14 points. American-Panamanian guard Danilo Pinnock (196-83, college: George Washington, agency: SportsTalent) helped adding 9 points and 6 rebounds. Capitanes' coach David Rosario allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Panamanian power forward Jaime Lloreda (201-80, college: LSU, agency: Paris Global Sports) responded with 29 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and forward Mike Harris (198-83, college: Rice) scored 4 points and 13 rebounds. Capitanes have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Santurce. Loser Atleticos keep the fifth position with ten games lost. Capitanes will have a break next round. Atleticos will play at home against Quebradillas (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
