Regular Season Round 23: Mayaguez - San German 96-101

Very expected game in Mayaguez where 9th ranked Indios (9-16) were defeated by fifth ranked Atleticos (14-10) 101-96 on Thursday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 23-18. But Indios won second period 27-26. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Atleticos shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for the former international guard Jesse Pellot-Rosa (193-84, college: VCU) who led his team to a victory scoring 27 points and 8 rebounds. International point guard Filiberto Rivera (190-82, college: UTEP) helped adding 18 points and 10 assists. Five Atleticos players scored in double figures. Guard Carlos Rivera (187-83, college: Hofstra, agency: Paris Global Sports) responded with 18 points and 8 rebounds and naturalized American forward Ramon Clemente (200-85, college: Wichita St., agency: Global Sports Plaza) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Indios' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Atleticos maintains fifth place with 14-10 record. Indios lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 16 games lost. Atleticos will face Quebradillas (#6) at home in the next round.
