The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Vaqueros (16-9) in Bayamon on Thursday night. Hosts were edged by fourth ranked Cangrejeros (15-11) in overtime 88-86. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Vaqueros. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Vaqueros won fourth quarter 20-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Vaqueros used huge pressure winning it 20-16 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 6-8. It was a great evening for American forward Michael Sweetney (203-82, college: Georgetown) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). International guard Richard Chaney (196-84, college: Troy, agency: Court Side) helped adding 13 points and 10 rebounds. Cangrejeros' coach Rolando Hourruitiner used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Terrence Shannon (203-79, college: Elgin CC, agency: Paris Global Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 15 rebounds and the former international guard Christian Dalmau (194-77, college: Daytona Beach CC, agency: Paris Global Sports) scored 19 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Cangrejeros moved-up to third place, which they share with Arecibo. Vaqueros at the other side still keep top position with nine games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
