Regular Season Round 24: Guaynabo - Humacao 93-95

The most exciting game of round 24 in the BSN took place in Guaynabo. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of second-best Mets (16-11) to seventh ranked Caciques (12-15) 95-93 on Friday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 95-93. Caciques dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Mets' 40. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American swingman James Maye (201-81, college: NC-Greensboro) who had a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds. The former international guard Miguel Ali Berdiel (198-83, college: Valparaiso, agency: Paris Global Sports) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international swingman Angel Luis Figueroa (196-81, college: Dowling, agency: Paris Global Sports) who recorded 23 points and 8 rebounds and American center Shaun Pruitt (208-85, college: Illinois, agency: Edge Sports) added 15 points and 15 rebounds respectively. Four Caciques and five Mets players scored in double figures. Caciques maintains seventh position with 12-15 record. Mets at the other side keep the second place with 11 games lost. Caciques are looking forward to face higher ranked Cangrejeros (#3) in Santurce in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Mets will play at home against the league's leader Vaqueros where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
