There was a small surprise when seventh ranked Caciques (13-15) beat 5th ranked Cangrejeros (15-13) in Santurce 85-79. The guests were ahead by 1 point but lost the second period ending it with a 2-point deficit before their 23-15 run, which allowed them to win the game. Caciques made 24-of-30 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. American power forward Ivan Johnson (203-84, college: Cal.St.-San Bernar.) fired 22 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. His fellow American import swingman James Maye (201-81, college: NC-Greensboro) chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds. American forward Michael Sweetney (203-82, college: Georgetown) produced 21 points and 6 rebounds and international guard Richard Chaney (196-84, college: Troy) added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Caciques and four Cangrejeros players scored in double figures. Caciques maintains seventh place with 13-15 record. Cangrejeros at the other side keep the fifth position with 13 games lost. Caciques' next round opponent will be Maratonistas (#8) in Coamo. Cangrejeros will play on the road against Mets in Guaynabo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
