Very important is a home loss of third ranked Capitanes (16-12) against ninth ranked Indios (10-17) on Thursday night. Host Capitanes were crushed by Indios in Arecibo 105-66. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Capitanes. The game was mostly controlled by Indios. Capitanes was better in fourth quarter 25-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Capitanes to just 4 points in first quarter. Indios dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Capitanes' 40. They outrebounded Capitanes 55-34 including a 37-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Indios players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Capitanes' players. Naturalized American forward Ramon Clemente (200-85, college: Wichita St., agency: Global Sports Plaza) notched a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds (perfect from the field making all ten shots !!!) to lead the effort and the former international swingman Alejandro Carmona (194-83) supported him with 21 points. Four Indios players scored in double figures. Indios' coach Eddie Casiano felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 26 points and 5 rebounds by naturalized American guard Ismael Caro (182-82, college: New Haven, agency: Paris Global Sports) did not help to save the game for Capitanes. The former international forward Alexander Falcon (200-74) added 15 points for the hosts. Indios maintains ninth position with 10-17 record. Capitanes at the other side dropped to the fourth place with 12 games lost. Indios will play against higher ranked Quebradillas (#5) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Capitanes will play against the league's second-placed Atleticos and will have a slim chance for a victory.
