Regular Season Round 27: Bayamon - Humacao 102-78
Date: June 19, 2011
Leader Vaqueros delivered the nineteenth victory on Sunday night. This time they crushed 7th ranked Caciques (13-17) 102-78 in Bayamon. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 102-78. It was a great shooting night for Vaqueros especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 58.8 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for the former international guard Christian Dalmau (194-77, college: Daytona Beach CC, agency: Paris Global Sports) who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points. American forward Terrence Shannon (203-79, college: Elgin CC, agency: Paris Global Sports) helped adding 18 points and 4 assists. Four Vaqueros players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was point guard Denis Clemente (185-86, college: Kansas St., agency: KMG Sports Management) with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and British V.Islands center Kleon Penn (211-86, college: McNeese St., agency: Paris Global Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Vaqueros have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 19-9 record. Loser Caciques keep the seventh position with 17 games lost. Vaqueros will meet at home Cangrejeros (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Caciques will play against the league's second-placed Mets in Guaynabo and hope to secure a win.
