Regular Season Round 27: Coamo - Guaynabo 87-89

Eighth-ranked Maratonistas (12-19) made lots of trouble for third ranked Mets (18-12) in Coamo on Sunday. The visitors from Guaynabo managed to secure only two-point victory 89-87. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 12 points after first quarter, but they rallied back winning two of next three quarters and won the game by 2 points. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Angel Luis Figueroa (196-81, college: Dowling, agency: Paris Global Sports) who scored 17 points and 8 rebounds. American center Shaun Pruitt (208-85, college: Illinois, agency: Edge Sports) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was guard Johwen Villegas (193-85, college: FIU) who recorded 25 points and American power forward Aaron McGhee (203-79, college: Oklahoma) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Five Mets and four Maratonistas players scored in double figures. Mets moved-up to second place. Maratonistas at the other side keep the eighth position with 19 games lost. Mets are looking forward to face Caciques (#7) in Humacao in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Maratonistas will have a break next round.
