Very important is a home loss of third ranked Atleticos (17-13) against fourth ranked Capitanes (17-12) on Monday night. Host Atleticos were crushed by Capitanes in San German 83-61. The game was mostly controlled by Capitanes. Atleticos was better in third quarter 22-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Capitanes players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. It was a good game for the former international swingman David Cortes (190-81) who led his team to a victory with 18 points and 4 assists. International guard Larry Ayuso (190-77, college: USC, agency: Global Sports Plaza) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Forward Mike Harris (198-83, college: Rice) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 18 rebounds and the former international guard Jesse Pellot-Rosa (193-84, college: VCU) added 13 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Atleticos. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Capitanes moved-up to third place. Atleticos at the other side dropped to the fourth position with 13 games lost. Capitanes will play against Quebradillas (#5) at home in the next round. Atleticos will have a break next round.
