Regular Season Round 1: CHILE - CANADA 51-96

Canada impressed basketball fans with their performance in Day One of the U16 FIBA Americas championship in Cancun. Canada smashed Chile 96-51 for 1-0 record in Group A. Participants of the same pool are also Puerto Rico and Mexico. Canada was way better team in this game and they made double-digit lead already in the first quarter (12-23). Canada jumped to plus 23 until the halftime and it was already clear who the winner of the game will be. Third quarter ended with 16-31 and last ten minutes 10-17 for Canada, who celebrated huge victory at the end. Tyrell Bellot-Green stepped up with 16 points in victory making all of his 4 attempts from behind the arc. Marial Shayok (8 rebs) and Malcom Duvivier added 13 points each. In Chile, Matias Sepulveda delivered 15 points. Eugenio Luzcando netted four less. In Day Two, Canada will meet Puerto Rico. Chile will take on Mexico (host).
