India retains their place in Level I for next edition of the FIBA Asia Championship for Women. The team needed 66:60 over Malaysia on Saturday. India’s win was their third successive success against the same opponent at the same stage. Although India looked better in the first 10 minutes, Malaysia grabbed 19:17 lead at the end of it. Suik May KEW scored for 22:17 and, while Geethu Anna JOSE tied the score at 25:25. Anitha PAULDURAI sent the teams to the lockers at 31:29. The third quarter became decisive in the game as India produced a 21-12 for 52:41 with 10 minutes to go. Moreover Prashanti SINGH scored for 60:47 with 7 minutes to play. Malaysia erupted for 9-0 run and Woon Yuen TEO reduced it to 60:56. Moreover Woon Yuen TEO scored for 62:60 with 2 minutes, but Prashanti SINGH brought the last four points for India to clinch the victory with them. Pauldurai Anitha stepped up with 23 points for the winners and Jose Geethu Anna added 18 points and 10 rebounds. Singh Prashanti notched 14, while Netam Bharti posted 7. Teo Woon Yuen replied with 13 points in the losing effort and Rajintiran Kalaimathi delivered 12.
