Qualifying Round Day 4: BRAZIL - DOMINICAN REPUBLIC 74-79

Dominican Republic crushed Brazil in Mar del Plata. Dominicans handed them first loss 74-79 at the FIBA Americas Championship jumping to 3-1 record. It is not known yet will it be enough for the first place in Group A, but Dominicans already booked a spot for the next stage. Brazil dropped to 2-1 and they will also advance. Alfred Horford paced Dominicans to victory with 22 points and 5 rebounds. Francisco Garcia had 14 points (4/5 for 3-pts), while Michael Jack Martinez helped with double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds. In Brazil, Marquinhos Vieira top-scored with 18 points. Tiago Splitter had 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Marcelinho Huertas also scored 16 pts, but to go with 5 assists. Quarters: 18-17, 21-26, 21-18, 14-18. Brazil will meet Cuba today and easy win is expected. Brazil also needs Canada to beat Venezuela to take the first place in Group A. Dominicans already played their four games at this stage.
