We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 6th ranked San Juan W. (2-5) was defeated on the road by seventh ranked Ponce L. (2-4) 83-74 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But San Juan W. won third quarter 27-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ponce L. made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Amber Bland (180-86, college: N.Carolina A&T) who helped to win the game recording 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Nikki Teasley (183-79, college: N.Carolina) who added 21 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Tocara Ross responded with 24 points and 9 rebounds and forward Holly Mahan (183-86, college: Towson) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Five Ponce L. and four San Juan W. players scored in double figures. San Juan W.'s coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Ponce L. moved-up to sixth place. San Juan W. at the other side dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. Ponce L. will face bottom-ranked Aguas B.T. (#8) in the next round. San Juan W. will play against Carolina G. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
