Regular Season Day 1: JAPAN - INDONESIA 81-59

Japan registered the first win at the 2011 Asian Championship. They bruised Indonesia in Group C opener. Joji Takeuchi scored 11 points and grabbed 8 rebounds to pace well-balanced effort from Japan. Japan grabbed the lead early in the game. They limited Indonesia to only 8 points in the starting quarter to build a 7-point lead. However Indonesia went on a 13:2 run in the second frame to take a 21:18 lead. But Japan answered with a 17:2 surge late in the half to establish a 37:24 lead at the interval. Japan stayed in charge throughout the third term. They boosted the margin to 20 points to clear off. Japan entered the fourth quarter up by 22 points 61:39 and never looked back en route to the victory. Takuya Kawamura and Shinsuke Kashiwagi delivered 10 points apiece in the winning effort. Andi Poedjakesuma responded with 12 points for Indonesia. Christian Ronaldo Sitepu top-scored with 14 points in the loss.
