Jordan opened win count at 2011 Asian Championship in Wuhan. They held off pesky Syria in Group C opener. Rasheim Wright stepped up with 20 points to pace Jordan. Jordan managed to post an 18:12 lead ten minutes into the game. But Jacques Nalbandian drained 8 points in a 10:2 run from Syria early in the second term as they jumped into lead. The teams traded baskets before Wael Jlilati knocked down 8 points in a row giving Syria a 36:31 lead at the interval. Wael Jlilati opened the second half with two points as Syria established a 40:31 advantage. But Jordan stepped on the gas late in the period. They capped the period with a 13:1 rally to grab a 56:46 lead with ten minutes remaining. Syria cut the deficit to just two points midway through the fourth frame 58:60. However Rasheim Wright came up with a timely three-pointer and Jordan ran away for the victory in the final minutes. Daghles Osama posted 19 points, 6 boards and 6 assists for Jordan. Islam Abbaas and Abbas Zaid added 8 points each in the win. Wael Jlilati answered with 13 points for Syria. Jacques Nalbandian chipped in 11 points in the loss.
