Regular Season Day 2: INDIA - MALAYSIA 67-71

Malaysia recorded the initial win at the 2011 Asian Championship. They overcame India to improve at 1-1 record in Group A. Ban Sin Ooi scored 20 points to lead the effort. India on the other hand slipped at 0-2 record after the loss. Malaysia strongly entered the game. They registered a 13:4 lead midway through the opening period. But India gradually picked up the tempo and eventually trailed by just two points 13:15 at the first break. India almost erased the deficit but Malaysia stepped on the gas late in the second term. They poured in 27 points in the second frame to ensure a 42:26 halftime lead. India grabbed the initiative in the third term. They dominated the period cutting the deficit to just 4 points with ten minutes to go 50:54. India finally pulled ahead midway through the fourth frame. But Malaysia answered with a crucial 9:3 outburst that propelled them to the victory at the end. Batumalai Guganeswaran accounted for 14 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for Malaysia. Tian Yuan Kuek added 9 points in the win. Japdeep Singh answered with 25 points for India. Amjyot Singh finished with 13 points and 12 rebounds in the loss.
