Japan registered the third consecutive win at the 2011 Asian Championship. They prevailed against Syria to top Group C ladder. Kosuke Takeuchi posted 19 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge. The lead changed hands for several times throughout the opening frame before Takuya Kawamura gave Japan a 17:15 lead. Kosuke Takeuchi ignited a 12:0 run from Japan at the start of the second term as they claimed a 29:15 advantage. Japan ensured a 34:24 lead at the interval. Takuya Kawamura nailed 10 points early in the third term to give Japan a 44:27 advantage midway through the third term. They maintained the lead posting a 57:42 lead with ten minutes to go. Japan never loosened the grasp in the final term rallying to the victory at the end. Takuya Kawamura notched 17 points, while Kenta Hirose and Joji Takeuchi added 12 points each in the win. Ioanis Deeb answered with 15 points for Syria. Sameer Al Dags had 13 points in the loss.
