Syria registered the first win at the Second Stage of the Asian Championship. They toppled UAE in Wuhan to improve at 1-3 record in Group E. Eder Arjo Gorges stepped up with 17 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Syria fired 30 points in the opening term to take off. They established a 14-point lead ten minutes into the game. UAE however did not allow their opponents to stretch the lead in the second term. They trailed by 13 points at the interval 35:48. The teams traded baskets in the third term. Syria ensured a 64:51 lead at the final intermission. UAE narrowed the gap back to single digits in the fourth term but Syria hung on to escape with an important win. Mahmood Osfira posted 14 points, while Giannis Deep produced 13 points in the victory. Ibrahim Ahmad answered with 25 points for Syria. Khalil Salem notched 17 points in the losing effort.
