Jordan came up with a sensational victory over defending champions Iran at the Asian Championship quarterfinal stage tonight. Daghles Osama scored 23 points to lead Tab Baldwin team to a stunning come-from-behind victory. Iran opened the game with six points in a row and seemed to be well in control of their fate in this one. But Jordan soon erased the deficit and pulled ahead for a 20:19 lead after ten minutes. Jordan opened the second period with five points in a row to boost the margin. Kazemi triggered an 8:2 run from Iran late in the half as they eked out a 36:35 lead. But Jordan quickly regained the lead in the third period. The teams went neck and neck throughout the third term. The lead changed hands before Haddadi and Samad Nikkhah made it 62:57 for Iran with ten minutes remaining. Haddadi and Samad Nikkhah stretched the gap to 7 points midway through the fourth term 71:64. Iran were still up by four points 76:72 with under four minutes remaining. But Jordan went on an 8:2 run to take an 80:78 lead with under two minutes to go. Daghles Osama then converted eight free throws in the dying minutes to seal the victory for Jordan. Zaid Alkhas posted 14 points, while Rasheim Wright and Wesam Al-Sous added 12 points each in the win. Mahdi Kamrani answered with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for Iran. Hamed Haddadi top-scored with 27 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists in defeat.
