Malaysia finished their Asian Championship campaign on a high note. They overcame Uzbekistan to clinch the 11th overall position. Shee Fai Loh stepped up with 18 points to pace the winners. Malaysia grabbed the initiative right from the start. They secured a 22:14 lead after ten minutes. Malaysia maintained the lead throughout the second period. The scoreboard read 45:33 for Cheng Huat Goh team at the interval. But Uzbekistan managed to revive the intrigue in the third quarter. They cut the deficit to just 5 points at the final break 59:64. Uzbekistan erased the deficit and eventually pulled in front after a three-pointer from Vyacheslav Denisov 67:66. The teams traded baskets before Malaysia went on a 9:0 run to take an 81:73 lead with 59 seconds remaining. Vyacheslav Denisov hit another three-pointer but Malaysia hung on to escape with a narrow win at the end. Li Wei Chee posted 13 points and 14 rebounds for Malaysia. Chuan Chin Wee and Ng added 9 points each in the victory. Vyacheslav Denisov responded with 21 points for Uzbekistan. Aleksandr Kozlov accounted for 15 points and 15 rebounds in the loss.
