We should mention about the upset which took place in Paderborn, where bottom-ranked BG Karlsruhe (0-1) was outleveled in a road game by leader Webmoebel Baskets (1-0) 119-92. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Webmoebel Baskets. BG Karlsruhe was better in second period 23-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Webmoebel Baskets made 32-of-40 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. Webmoebel Baskets players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. 28 personal fouls committed by BG Karlsruhe helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Webmoebel Baskets keep a position of league leader, which they share with 5 other teams. BG Karlsruhe at the other side still closes the standings with one game lost. Webmoebel Baskets' next round opponent will be bottom-ranked NBC (#15) in Nurnberg which should be another easy win for them. BG Karlsruhe will play at home against Gloria Giants (#4) in Duesseldorf.
