Japan capped their Asian Championship campaign with victory. They outscored Taiwan to clinch the seventh overall position. Kosuke Takeuchi posted 16 points and 22 rebounds to lead the charge. Japan stunned their opponents in the opening frame. They outscored Taiwan 28:9 in the starting ten minutes. Taiwan adjusted their offence in the second frame. They answered with 27 points of their own to cut the margin to 11 points at the interval. But Japan picked up the tempo in the third term. They slowed Taiwan down and maintained the lead well. Japan entered the fourth quarter up by as many as 13 points. Taiwan narrowed the gap to just 6 points 63:69 but Japan hung on to escape with victory at the end. Tomoo Amino posted 14 points, while Keijuro Matsui and Takeki Shonaka added 13 points apiece in the winning effort. Lin Chih-Chieh answered with 18 points for Taiwan. Wen-Ting Tseng had 17 points in the losing case.
