Regular Season Round 3: Aarhus BC - Vaerlose 81-76
Date: October 1, 2011
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when eighth ranked Aabyhoj (1-2) beat at home 7th ranked Vaerlose (1-2) 81-76 on Saturday. Vaerlose was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 25-18 charge of Aabyhoj, which allowed them to win the game. Aabyhoj outrebounded Vaerlose 31-18 including 24 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward D'Mario Curry (201-85, college: Lincoln Memorial) who scored 26 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. International guard Darko Jukic (199-90) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Mads Rasmussen (191-86) who recorded 21 points and Icelandic forward Axel Karason (193-83) added 17 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Vaerlose's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Aabyhoj left bottom position moving up to sixth place, which they share with Horsholm and Vaerlose. Aabyhoj will face higher ranked SISU (#5) in Copenhagen in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
