Date: October 5, 2011
The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Svit (2-1) at the home court on Wednesday night. Hosts were defeated by Nova Ves (3-0) 84-74. It was a key game for the top position in the league as both teams had the same 2-0 record before this meeting. The game was mostly controlled by Nova Ves. Svit managed to win second period 22-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American guard Corey Jefferson (183-85, college: Texas St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 13 assists and 5 steals. International center Michal Batka (204-87) contributed with 24 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Jefferson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Nova Ves players scored in double figures. Latvian forward Martins Berkis (199-85, agency: Warren Sports International) replied with 23 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Lamar Roberson (203-86, college: La-Lafayette) added 17 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Svit. Svit's coach Milan Cernicky rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Nova Ves have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader. Svit at the other side dropped to the second place with one game lost. They share the position with Prievidza and Nitra. Nova Ves are looking forward to face Prievidza (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Svit will play against Komarno and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
