Seventh-ranked San Juan W. (4-10) made lots of trouble for fourth ranked Carolina G. (8-3) on Wednesday. Carolina G. managed to secure only five-point victory 92-87. However their fans expected easier game. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-18. But San Juan W. won second period 19-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where San Juan W. used huge pressure winning it 23-17 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 17-22. Carolina G. made 32-of-38 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 San Juan W. turnovers. San Juan W. was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Carolina G. have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains fourth place with 8-3 record. Loser San Juan W. keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. Carolina G. will face Ponce L. (#5) in the next round. San Juan W. will play against San German.
