Very expected game when bottom-ranked Artland Dragons (0-1) were defeated on the road by top-ranked ratiopharm Ulm (2-0) 84-79 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Artland Dragons won third quarter 23-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when ratiopharm Ulm won last quarter 24-20. They also forced 19 Artland Dragons turnovers. Strangely Artland Dragons outrebounded ratiopharm Ulm 37-24 including 29 on the defensive glass. Artland Dragons were plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. American players dominated also this game. The best player for the winners was center John Bryant (208-87, college: Santa Clara) who scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Dane Watts (203-86, agency: Pro One Sports) chipped in 10 points and 8 rebounds. Five ratiopharm Ulm players scored in double figures.
