Regular Season Round 1: Niigata Albirex - Shinshu BW 98-75

There was a minor upset when Shinshu BW (1-1) was outscored on the road by Niigata Albirex (1-1) 98-75 on Saturday. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 98-75. It was a very good performance for American power forward James Keefe (203-87, college: UCLA) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 9 rebounds. His fellow American import power forward Chris Holm (212-84, college: Vermont) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Four Niigata Albirex players scored in double figures. American power forward Lee Roberts (201-87, college: Findlay, OH) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds and guard Takato Saito (181-85) added 17 points and 6 assists in the effort for Shinshu BW. Despite that victory Niigata Albirex went down to second position due to points difference, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Shinshu BW. Niigata Albirex will face Toyama Grouses (#9) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
