Regular Season Round 2: Clermont - Rueil 95-75

There was a minor upset when higher ranked Rueil (1-1) was outscored on the road by thirteenth ranked Stade Clermont (1-1) 95-75 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 95-75. Forward Jonathan Beugnot (201-83, college: Clayton St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points and 9 rebounds. American forward Jonathan McClark (200-77, college: Rider) contributed with 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Naturalized Serbian center Streten Cabarkapa (204-84) replied with 15 points and 8 rebounds and Georgian center Georges Mdivani (205-85, agency: Promotex) added 13 points in the effort for Rueil. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Stade Clermont left bottom position moving up to fifth place, which they share with 9 other teams including defeated Rueil. Stade Clermont will face Vendee Challans (#8) on the road in the next round. Rueil will play against Saint-Quentin and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
