The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Halcones Rojos as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Halcones Rojos smashed 3rd placed Toros in Veracruz 86-67. The game was mostly controlled by Halcones Rojos. Toros managed to win fourth quarter 26-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Halcones Rojos especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Toros' players. The best player for the winners was Puerto Rican swingman David Cortes (190-81) who scored 24 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Venezuelan point guard Gregory Vargas (182-86) chipped in 8 points and 10 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was international point guard Brody Angley (180-86, college: Santa Clara, agency: JEMsports) who recorded 12 points and 7 rebounds and American swingman Joseph Hutchingson Mejia (196, college: Lincoln, MO) added 12 points respectively. Four Toros players scored in double figures. Halcones Rojos (12-2) have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Toros at the other side dropped to the fourth place with five games lost. Toros will play next round against Halcones UV Xalapa trying to get back on the winning streak. Halcones Rojos will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Fuerza Regia in Monterrey.
