Regular Season Round 15: Volcanes - Barreteros 79-86

Bottom-ranked Volcanes (0-15) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 86-79 loss to third ranked Barreteros (10-4) in Toluca on Friday evening. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. It was a great evening for American forward James Reaves (203-82, college: Niagara, agency: TSS Management) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points and 9 rebounds. Jamaican forward Mugabe Thomas (193-80, college: Cedarville) helped adding 14 points and 5 rebounds. Five Barreteros players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Larry Morinia (180-80, college: Montana St., agency: ProSportsCareers) with 25 points and 5 assists and guard Carlos M. Toussaint (190-91) scored 27 points and 4 steals. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Barreteros maintains third place with 10-4 record having just two points less than leader Halc.Rojos. Volcanes lost their fifteenth game in a row. They still closes the standings with 15 games lost. Barreteros will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Volcanes will play again against Barreteros (#3) in Zacatecas and look forward to get finally their first victory.
