The game with biggest result difference took place in Cancun. Local Pioneros (7-5) outscored 12th ranked Panteras (3-10) 105-66 on Friday night. The game without a history. Pioneros led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Panteras' 34. They outrebounded Panteras 49-28 including a 33-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward John Millsap (198-82, college: UTSA) who scored 18 points and 7 rebounds. Naturalized American point guard Joseph Sanchez (180-83, college: UTPA) chipped in 17 points. Millsap is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four Pioneros players scored in double figures. Pioneros' coach felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was Puerto Rican point guard Ricardo Melendez (180-83, agency: TSS Management) who recorded 18 points and forward Jorge Casillas (196-90) added 16 points respectively. Pioneros moved-up to seventh place. Loser Panteras keep the twelfth position with ten games lost. Pioneros will face again Panteras (#12) in Aguascalientes in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game.
