There was no surprise when 9th ranked VSE Praha (2-4) was defeated at home by seventh ranked Basket Slovanka MB (3-2) 74-63 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Basket Slovanka MB. VSE Praha was better in third quarter 23-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding VSE Praha to just 5 points in second quarter. Basket Slovanka MB made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was center Lenka Sipova (185-88) who scored 18 points and 8 rebounds. point guard Hana Nezdarilova (170-84) chipped in 14 points and 8 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Dalila Eshe (191-84, college: Florida) who recorded 19 points and international guard Darina Johnova (178-85) added 15 points and 4 assists respectively. Basket Slovanka MB moved-up to sixth place. VSE Praha lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the eighth position with four games lost. Basket Slovanka MB will face higher ranked Kara Trutnov (#4) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. VSE Praha will play against Sokol Hradec Kralove (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
