Regular Season Round 16: Halc.Rojos - Fuerza Regia 69-66

The most exciting game of round 16 in the LNBP took place in Veracruz. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of their biggest opponent Fuerza Regia (11-3) to first ranked Halcones Rojos (13-2) 69-66 in the game for the first place. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Fuerza Regia. The hosts trailed by 6 points after three quarters before their 25-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Halcones Rojos made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Fuerza Regia turnovers. Venezuelan point guard Gregory Vargas (182-86) fired 24 points and 4 assists for the winners. Venezuelan power forward Luis Bethelmy (200-86) chipped in 19 points and 8 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!). Halcones Rojos' coach Eddie Casiano used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Jeremis Smith (203-86, college: Georgia Tech) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). Halcones Rojos have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 13-2 record. Fuerza Regia at the other side keeps the second place with three games lost. Halcones Rojos are looking forward to face Halcones UV Xalapa (#6) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Fuerza Regia will play against Huracanes (#5) in Tampico and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
